$60.00
sold out

Details:

January 9th, 2026

4:00pm - 5:30pm

Location:

E1

Instructor:

Anne - Better Bee

Description:

Anne Frey is an EAS Master Beekeeper, and is currently the Head Beekeeper at Betterbee, where she manages 550-750 hives.  In over three and a half decades of beekeeping, Anne has done just about everything, including a whole lot of candle making.  By her estimation, she has poured over 4000 beeswax candles.  First, Anne will present a quick overview of how bees make wax, how to harvest and render it, and how to make beautiful beeswax candles from it.  Next, you will learn as you watch a master of the craft pour some demonstration candles.  Then, each participant will be able to pour at least one candle into a mold on-loan from Betterbee's collection.  If you bring additional molds with you, Anne will help you set your wick and fill that mold too, as long as time, wicking, and wax supplies last.  Filled molds will be kept safe overnight, and on Saturday you will join Anne at the Betterbee booth for a candle unmolding party to see how your (and your classmates') candles all turned out.
